Is this list ok?

ok thank you

Honestly, it's a great rig even if you don't need that CPU cooler.

Buy it, enjoy it, be happy.

Hi, so ive been planning to get a pc for a while and I think ive finally got a list that I like. I have asked around and have got quite a few different opinions (mainly from the build a pc discord) so I figured the best thing to do is come to a forum where people can actually explain in detail what is wrong with the shitty build.

its being used for all different sorts of games and a lot of photo/video editing.

Upgrade your Ram to DDR4 3600. The current Ryzen CPU's benefits from faster Ram - and 3600 speed is the sweetspot.

The Ram you have already is fine.

Spending almost 2.2k$ and then not getting the sweet spot memory speed seems off. So no, i don't think so.

I think  Patriot Viper RGB DDR4-3600 2x8 GB should be fine, as an example. If you go with a well known brand, you should be fine with any ddr4 3600 Ram.

Do you need an 8 core cpu?  The nice thing about Ryzen is that the lower core ones perform damn near the same as the higher core ones for gaming.  Are you going to need 8/16 for all the things?

Cooler is a waste, use the stock one.  You won't OC to the point you need it.

That SSD is expensive, or are all SSD's just way overpriced there?

I second the 3600MHz RAM. Any major brand is fine, getting CL18 or so.

What is this sweet spot you talk of ? You realise that there is more to Ram than frequency ? The cas latency is just as important.

It is easy to overclock Ram with the Ryzen dram calc tool.

Oh.  I was thinking a 1TB ssd is under $100 USD so that's $140-$145 AUD.  :(

Sorry man.

But you have Crocodile Dundee and we have Orange Man.  I'd pay higher SSD prices all day :)

Sure you can squeeze more out of the Ram, but its not really necessary to get a 3200 kit and try to push it to 3600 when you can just buy 3600 out of the box and don't have to fiddle with it. Especially since there is no need to save a few bucks when you go up into the 2k+$ range.

that was also my logic with the cooler, i might not need it but the only down side is the expense so...

Or you can just buy 3200MHz CL16 and be perfectly fine and keep the extra money in your wallet. If there was a huge fps difference then you would have a point, but there isn't.

Look at that Gamers Nexus link. There isn't a whole lot of difference between 3200 and 3600.

If you are happy to mess about with the Ryzen dram calc tool then this Crucial Ram is very good. Should easily do 3600 CL16.
