Will my cpu bottleneck my gpu?

Azrielzx

Hey! im using a really old rig, which has served me super well all these years, running battlefield 4 on ultra settings no problem for example.
but with the new CoD Wazone etc i'm really lagging alot even with everything on low, so im thinking to upgrade my gpu.

MY CURRENT SPECS

GPU: Nvidia Geforce 780
CPU: Intel i7 3820 (quad core with 8 threads)

RAM: 16 gig DDR3

so my worry is that since everythings so old, my CPU will bottleneck any new GPU i buy, such as the GTX 1650 Super and it won't change too much in gaming? thanks for your reply!

Eh, it depends on what you'll be doing on the system. Bottlenecking isn't absolute. A 4c8t CPU would be considered rather antiquated for most modern tasks, however.

Yeah i believe that, mainly using it for gaming. most new titles i'll probably be trying out now because of the Corona virus, got alot of time on my hands. would it be worth it to upgrade both then?

EDIT: seeing as the reccomended system requirements for a game such as cod: warzone, is an  Intel Core i5-2500K from 2011, 4c4t cpu, do you think my i7  3820 will be just fine even tho its abit old?

The 1650 super is not vastly more powerful than the 780. You'd not face any issues.

Trash beauty:

CPU: Xeon X5550

GPU: RX 570 4GB (defective)

SSD: Fattydove Racing 240GB

HDD: WD Blue 320GB

Motherboard: HP Z400

Ram: 6x2GB DDR3 1066

PSU: Corsair TX650

Eh, upgrading with a pricier GPU will net you more performance than splitting the price between a GPU and CPU upgrade. I'd upgrade the GPU first.

The 1660 super has pretty good value by itself, so even if you get a little bottleneck, I still think you should get it.

Nice, but i'm just worried it's not really gonna be worth the extra 95$ its gonna cost me to go for the 1660 super vs the 1650 super with my current setup. what do you think? gaming at only 1980x1080p 60hertz

for only 1920x1080, the 1650 super will not disappoint.
