Hey all, I recently cleaned my pc and i noticed that one of my sata molex cable (that connects 2 ssd with my psu) had one of its black cable (it has2 black 1 yello 1 red) hanging in the air, i think i manged to plug it back but what are the risks of not getting a new cable?

Also could it had any effect on my pc while it was plugged out?

if the cable was one you were using, I'm surprised it worked.

Don't use that cable anymore.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

No effect. Both black wires connect to the same place on both the power supply and the ssd/hard drive... they're ground wires.

Also, your SSD most likely uses only the red (5v) and black wire (ground), the 12v (yellow) is not used.

If you "plugged it back", I'd suggest gently pulling it back out. Wires should not come out of connectors, they're usually connected really well inside the connectors to metal contacts. Shoving it back in probably didn't do anything, but if there's an intermittent contact inside it can cause problems. It's better for that wire to stay out if it's broken (no contacts at the end of the wire)

Thanks for the answers, I forgot to mention that the black cable that came out, it come out with the metal "head" from the white plastic holder. So 3 cables (1 black 1 yellow 1 red) was conencted for the last 3 months to the ssd and i havent noticed any performance issue (neither samsung magician). All I did was put back the black wire (with the matlic head) back to the plastic holder that holds all 4 cables and push it back.
