Hey all,

I recently purchased a new GPU expecting some great performance gains, but from the readout on the OSD, it seems as if my GPU is being severely underutilized. I think I've read around that this could be due to a CPU bottleneck. If this is the case, what CPU options do you think I should consider (trying to go for the most budget-friendly option!) Thanks!

GPU: 1660 Super
CPU: i5-6400
RAM: 16gb 2133MHz

mobo: Gigabyte z170XP-SLI
The game: Division 2
Resolution: 2560x1440
Graphics Preset: High

are you getting a bad framerate?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

The base clock for the GTX 1660 Super is 1500+ MHz. In the screenshot you posted it shows it running at 675MHz, likely running in its idle state where it clocks down to save power.

Do you have the monitor plugged in to the motherboard? You might be running off your CPUs integrated graphics.

What was your previous graphics card? What performance did you get from that?

I have the Asus GPU Tweak installed which allowed me to overclock the gpu to 1845 MHz. I did double check that my monitor was connected to the graphics card via displayport. (integrated graphics is disabled in the bios)
My previous graphics card was the zotac 960 4gb. I haven't used it on the division 2 but for other games (CSGO, League), I was pushing 60+ at 1080p

So as it turns out, seems like the OSD wasn't updating properly. I ran the in-game benchmark and produced these results. Seems like there isn't a bottleneck after all? But should I still even consider a CPU upgrade? I was looking around r/Hardwareswap and noticed a 7600k for $140USD and a 6700k for $220. Do those options make sense for me? (Considering that I don't play any RTS games, or other games like City Skyline)

Iirc, division 2 is pretty core/thread heavy.

You'll notice some bad frametimes with a 4/4 low frequency chip I'm afraid

Benchmark won't reflect actual gameplay.

You'll likely experience some stutters in actual gameplay when a bunch of stuff happens
