Hey All,

I'm running an old ASUS Sabertooth x79, and was looking to upgrade my os from windows 7 to 10. My install fails with the notorious "safe_os phase" and after some troubleshooting I'm now thinking my BIOS is the issue. I'm currently on a version from 2012 (v 1104), and it seems a later bios added "windows 8 compatibility" which in theory could mean it fixes windows 10 issues as well.

So two questions:

1. Has anyone else had an issue with Windows 10 on this mobo, and am I right that the BIOS needs an update?

2. Asus offers their "Asus Update" utility which lets you update the BIOS from within windows, without having to make a flash drive etc. Has anyone used this and is it reliable? Or should I stick with the EZ flash method inside of the BIOS?

Thanks!
