Plex System Transfer

I am transferring my plex media server to a different installation of Ubuntu on the same system. I am having trouble with the transfer however. I have followed the Plex guide step by step but for some reason Linux won't recreate the plexmediaserver directory for me to put the server data in. I installed the plex media server application from the Ubuntu software and ran it but it still won't create the directory. If anybody has any experience with this and has any ideas i'd love to here them.
