external hdd External HDD not opening anymore

Hi, I am on win 10 and suddenly from yesterday, the external hdd is getting detected but not being able to read by windows. It keeps showing the green loading bar which shows its trying to read but its not and the entire systems gets freeze and such. SS: https://pasteboard.co/IY431Pt.png

 

I tried another USB port but same thing. Assigned another letter to the drive but same thing. Uninstalled device from device manager but same thing.

 

What to do? I have work files in there that I cannot lose  Please help.

Try connecting it to another computer, and if possible try reading it with Linux. If another pc can’t read it, it’s likely a problem with the drive itself.
