Bascally i own a dell G3 and when ever i try to play any game it always runs at the max 3.9 Ghz that it can. I have absolutely no idea how to make it stop, i've tried XTU lowering the voltage of the turbo boost but it won't help. If anyone can help it would be greately appreciated because this is ruining all of my gaming experience and i can only play low end games. It makes my laptop OVERHEAT

Uh what, how does running at 3.9Ghz make your experience worse.
Like that doesn't even make sence to me.

Nah it overheats @CustomEnchants the base speed is 2.3 Ghz

Then re-apply the thermal paste
And clean out the dust in your pc it will very likely solve your issue.

Noticed that a bit to late regardless you could still do it though.

even my 20inch thick alienware 17r5 that promised 4.5ghz or whatnot used to throttle under 3.5.

you can still change paste. You can also consider liquid metal. Changing paste always makes a big difference on laptops especially dell they use the shittiest toothpaste you ever seen its basically powder.

I think the bios is all up to date @ShrimpBrime

If you purchased the Laptop and never updated it yourself personally, it might help to check into it.

Cpu-Z motherboard tab will tell you which bios revision you are using.

I'd do the power saving tweaks in bios if available. It'll be a better approach.

If you can do 3-3.2ghz under (around) a volt, that would be pretty good. But you have to lower the Cpu multiplier and voltage to help decrease temps. Manually set up a fan curve have it spin up a little sooner to help regulate your thermals better.

@The Torrentimage.thumb.png.add51e3c01d49fbbc7c678ea04698b2a.png The temperature is ussually around 90 degrees celcius

dude lol what are you doing

there is no thermal issues there you've completely reduced your turbo power dont do that.

reset all that, and show me the screen when its all normal (aka just restart ur pc that should reset it to default)

once its back normal, run a stress test or two at once (for cpu and gpu as im guessing they are sharing the same heatsink) and send a screenshot again without changing anything.

Then try reducing the core voltage, nothing else, just core voltage by about 120mv and send again.

That is just after booting up yes that is idle @The Torrent did a stress test the max temp was 99 max usage was 3.11 Ghz
And yes i have 8 GB ram but idk why th other 4 is idle...?

This is idle aftewr the stress test and had a bit of time to cool down

Now decrease that core clock by 120mv and try again and see if you get higher fps/clock speed.

strange results tho ur pc is 82c when starting up but straight after a stress test is 65...
