Try to find somewhere with a lenovo Y500/510

You can find the older models for around 700.

Don't waste money on a gaming laptop. Get a nice desktop. ITX if he wants portability.

There is a difference in gaming laptops and multimedia laptops.

You don't have to pay an outrageous price for a multimedia laptop like my Lenovo Y580 compared to Asus' Laptops of the same Spec.

We know building a pc is more cost effective but instead of suggesting a gaming build, why not just add something to the conversation. He asked for laptop recommendations so why not just recommend some laptops.

The Lenovo y580 has powered me through almost 1 1/2 years and has to be the best laptop for the average (gamerish) user. It's $800 something now on amazon.
