I have recently upgraded to 3600X, after being an Intel man my whole life.
I have swapped the stock cooler to Corsair H100i v2 but found it to be a pile of rubbish, inadequate for cooling this CPU due to it's constant temperature jumping. I found the pump to be just tiny bit too loud in idle and unacceptably loud at max speed and when speeding up. Add inadequate (pathetic) control options and rather unimpressive temperatures IMO I have have dusted off my old Phanteks TC12DX and have installed a single PWM brushless Corsair fan, and adjusted fan curve accordingly to achieve maximum silence. In idle fan operates at 700RPM being completely inaudible as opposed to pump that cannot be properly set through Fan Xpert and same with the fans if they are controlled by pump as set forth in set up manual for the H100i v2.

Right now with the Phanteks setup idle temperatures are oscillating at 34-45 degree Celsius, predominantly staying under 41.
Stress testing for max heat with Prime 95 yields temperatures of 85-87 degree Celcius.

Thermal compound used is MX-4

Wondering if someone has similar setup with mid size cooling tower and could post their temp. observations for comparing.
Thanks!

I'm with a 3600 under a D15, never goes above 70c on stress load.

D15 is also 2x the size of my Phanteks :D But thanks for reply, D15 is a fantastic cooler.
