For dual channel, sticks should be the same size (and speed etc.)

 

It's possible with 16+8 the RAM will run in mixed mode, so half of your 16 GB stick will run dual channel with the 8 GB stick and the rest will run in single channel mode.

Ain't this limited to Intel CPUs & chipsets only? And as I heard, performance will be worse once you get past the dual channel threshold.

You most likely will just make sure the cl latency is the same

Apparently some AMD systems do, too. Not saying I recommend it though. Even if flex mode works, only half the memory will work in dual channel (or two thirds rather).

 

@op, like I said above use two sticks with the same size, speed, latency, etc.
