Need help with chipset installation :)

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

Only the one from AMD website is needed, and should be the newest.

On Asus website, the bigger one is the newer one, but it's only bigger because it also contains integrated graphics drivers.

On the asus website, the small download is strictly chipset drivers (an older version from august last year) and the bigger download is chipset PLUS integrated graphics - the date is newer than what's on amd website which could mean it's either a beta driver (so not really recommended) because amd list only "stable" drivers on that page, or they just mixed an older chipset version with a video card driver that was released on the 20th of that month.

Hi guys, just wondering if its better to use the ASUS Motherboard website when installing drivers or the AMD website? If ASUS is the better option then do I need to install both of these or just the top one?1206974769_Screenshot(1).thumb.png.408e92c931be3ac45251f6c834e42eaf.png
Or if AMD is the best one then do I just download thie one from AMD?

Thanks in advance :)

Just grab the one from AMD. there is usually nothing special about the ones provided by the Motherboard Manufacturer other than a different installer.

So it doesnt matter that the asus one newer?

the Asus one will technically be older, its just a repackaged driver. You can use anyone you like however.

Sounds great, I think Ill go for the AMD one then, is this https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x470 the correct page for the asus rog strix x470-f gaming mobo?

All AMD chipsets share the same driver package. It's a single installer, so you can't really go wrong.

But yeah, your motherboard uses the x470 chipset, you're downloading the driver recommended for the x470 chipset. It's all good.
