Hey guys I'm pretty new to the computer assembly world as the last computer i had my friend built for me 8 years ago.  After spending some time learning from this wonderful tech community I'm close to finishing a new build. After saving every penny I could for the last 4 months or so I was able to come away with ryzen 5 3600, b450 tomahawk max mb, 16gigs 3600 speed ram, 600w psu, 250g ssd plus 2 tb hard drive, and chose the phanteks p400a case. The last thing I must save for is the gpu.  As I am now I couldnt see myself being able to buy anything over 400 bucks.  Could you all give me advice as to what card to look into. Do I go for a 400 dollar card if so which ones to look at? My other thought is going 300 dollar card and maybe using that other 100 to help start saving for a new panel. Any help is appreciated sorry for the wordy post.

What psu did you choose?

as for GPU perhaps this one

If you're gaming on 1440p or higher, choose either the RTX 2070 Super or the RX 5700XT.

If you're on 1080p with no plans to go 1440p or 4K in the near future (a year or two), go with an RX 5600XT, a GTX 1660 Super or an RTX 2060.

Echo what others said. Definitely check out that 5700XT since its $400 and best bang for buck. And apparently, AMD fixed most of the problems with the drivers, so you should be fine. Either way, good luck with your choice!

for sure i would look at the RX 5700 series or a RTX series card (2060 or 2070) with the RTX 2070 Super been the best value vs performance GPU right now.

As you have a AMD CPU it might be best to get the highest performing GPU from AMD in your price range.

do you have any preference to manufactures? colours, number of fans etc?

if you like Nvidia, EVGA do some good deals. Asus are nice but a little more cost.  then there are other options and different manufactures.

usually you get what you pay for.

What? Basically every GPU below $500 are better value than the 2070S, it is the best GPU under $500, but in no way the best value, plus it is out of the budget of the OP.

Why? even though under $400 i would probably get the 5700, that have nothing to do with what CPU is in the system, it's not like Nvidia GPUs are going to perform worse than AMD ones in a AMD system.

That’s a horrible unit to be fair. Do you have a Corsair RMx or TXm or if On tight budget a Corsair CX available to you? 550W will be plenty.

i would opt for a 5700XT if you want 1440P. If it’s only 1080P a 5700 will do and will have some more left in the tank if you ever wish to upgrade your monitor
