I'm in a weird spot, and looking for some advice. I have plenty of background knowledge about IT, and a passion for tech in general, but I have no idea where to start in the field. I don't have any formal education or training, so conveying my skill set on a resume is tough.

Anyone got tips on how to get a decent tech job?

If it helps narrow down the advice, I'm from NC in the states.

Definitely internships first. Did a 7 year one with WSP while going to school for Criminal Justice and Corrections. Got a technical degree in that while doing everything from homicide to cyberwarfare. Sometimes an internship offers more than a job and can be more fun. If you can find a paid one, that's even better.

temp agencys are a good option to start.

theres a few(like the one i work for), that specialize in helpdesk positions.  so even though i have no certifications, ive worked for a few major companies, which all have potential to get hired on fulltime.  they also help you write and flush out your resume.

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.
