I've tried a few places for support including reddit and Microsoft support but no one has found a solution. I found I had a LTT forum account and haven't used it in a long time and I figured I'd poke some brains here.

Windows 10 Pro x64

Galaxy S9+ with MircroSD 128GB.

First things first, some background info; I like my music locally stored so I carry my whole library around with me and the way my music is managed is a bit strange but bear with me. I manage my music with the Zune software, I know it's ancient but I like it's autoplaylist feature and UI. From there, I follow these steps:

  • Software called "zpltowpl" converts my playlists to a format that Windows Media Player can understand.
  • I use WMP to sync to Galaxy S9 - Card. I sync all playlists and the library. Playlists are the reason I can't just copy and paste to the SD card.
  • I sometimes need to delete the Music from the phone prior to syncing to avoid errors.

On previous syncs I noticed it would sometimes fail, the resolution was to use developer options to keep the phone awake and it was working fine. The only change since the last time I synced is that the phone now has Android 10. I have screenshots of the error WMP tells me below.  I've tried rebuilding the WMP library, disabling WMP in Windows Features and re-enabling it, and I verified multiple times that the SD Card has 57.4GB free. The phone and the computer both report the same amount of space free but my suspicion is that the SD is incorrectly reporting free space or there's a problem with the card. The music library I would say it's very large, only 12GB's or so. I do have an external card reader so if there are tools I can use to test it but I'm not sure what tools I can use.

The only thing I haven't tried is formatting the card but I want to avoid that if possible.

Update, I used a SD Card checker and wrote a test file to the SD card and it was able to fill the free space without an issue. I also noticed when it fails the SD card disappears from the file explorer until I disconnect and reconnect the phone. It's almost like the phone and computer stop communicating for no reason.
