Im at a loss... FreeNas Disk Creation

Joe James

I downloaded freenas from the website, and have been trying to create an installer, but every time, it just unallocates my drive. I have tried win32, rufus, and image usb. I have tried several usbs, i checked the checksum several times, redownload and rechecked its fine. I can write elementary os to any drive no problem, but freenas just formats the drive and removes the drive letter. And says it's successful. Anyone have any ideas?

Strange. I've never had such problem with Rufus. If it's only doing it with the FreeNAS.ISO you can try using DD on Linux. It's not hard if you need instructions.

Dd on Linux? I don't have a Linux install right now, when i put elementary on my 510 it didn't have a mouse, and my keyboard buttons were wrong. Finally was able to update drivers, but it still didn't have a cursor, i was only able to scroll, not click. So thats a whole different issue, i want freenas on it anyway.

I used this to create my freenas boot disk on a usb flash drive. It worked first try for me.
