Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone is able to assist me. I am in the thought process of building an emulation/LAN machine. Something compact that I can easily take with me. The LAN side of things I have figured out because its mostly classics like Starcraft and Unreal Tournament 2004 era stuff. I need help with the emulation side.

I have emulated NES and SNES games in the past and even a couple PS3 games on my current setup. I am currently in the process of acquiring all the games I think I want. I would like to use a front-end so its all nice, neat and looks great. There are a few I have watched reviews on but I haven't chose one yet. I was looking at launchbox, coinops, and hyperspin, but i am open to suggestions. I am willing to pay if its worth it.

I am also under the impression that I still need to download the emulators themselves?? If this is the case is there a list of emulators that people recommend for each console??

Is there a really good tutorial that walks through the process of downloading the front-end and emulators and then combining everything and making it all work? I cant seem to find something like this.

Im sure I will have more questions the deeper I get in. I just wish it was as easy as 1 download to cover everything, games and all.

Thanks for the assistance

I agree! Lunchbox will surely fill the niche perfectly. Emulation however, requires double the power of the original hardware of PC to work. If you want to run some hardcore games on the fly, invest in some decent rig.

I plan on playing everything up to PS1. Anything newer i will emulate on my main rig. What would you recommend for a GPU knowing that? Ive read that onboard graphics can handle PS1 but other state getting an older 700 series nvidia

Legend, I dont think that EMULATION is linked to your graphics card in a way that it would make any dramatic difference - emulators dont play like that! You wouldn't want to rack your brains, or drain your wallet on a GPU 'just' for your emulation purpose. Even an older GPU will suffice.

My £250 gaming rig (Optiplex 3010, 4th Gen i5, GT 1030... Damn you Linus making me spend money :D) runs PS1 without skipping a beat. Hell, even GameCube & some PS2 games run sweet! Its all about that CPU performance that makes the difference though with emulation!
