Hi,

I'm having issues regarding connecting to steam. My internet is working fine, however everytime I try to load up steam, I just get prompted the error message which tells me if I want to retry or go into offline mode. I've tried the various methods to fix listed online but none seemed to work. I also made sure my antivirus was uninstalled as well as windows defender was turned off.

If anyone else dealt with a similar issue in the past, any help would be appreciated.

Shouldn’t need to do either of those things to access steam.  It’s actually pretty bad to try to connect to the internet with your safeties turned off like that.  I wouldn’t be surprised if you got infected with something because of that.

if that was my system and I discovered my system had been connected to the internet with no defenses in place I’d be doing a clean reinstall of everything right now and calling an identity theft tracking company.  Perhaps I’m over vigilant about such things.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Not to sound . . . pessimistic? but to me thats a little too paranoid. not to mention has nothing to do with the question asked.

As for the question asked, i've had issues with steam lately, but thats mainly because steam servers seem to go unavailable.

While gaming thru steam it goes offline for periods of time without any reasoning.

So my question would be, is this a recent issue or has it been going on for a while?

Gamesystem: X3700, 32GB memory @3200mhz, GTX1080 Hybrid

Unraid system: Epyc 7352, 24/48, 96GB ECC buffered @2666mhz, 2x GT710, GTX1050Ti

This has been happening ever since I got a new connection installed in my house. Which was about 20 days ago.

Also, I've tried on 2 seperate systems now both on wifi and ethernet and neither seems to work with steam.

Additional Ports for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer
UDP 1500 (outbound)
UDP 3005 (outbound)
