I am looking for a $600ish pc build with a larger focus on the processor then a traditional gaming build.

I will also be buying from microcenter so the prices may change a bit.

Any advice would. be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest the MSI B450M Gaming Plus if going with that cpu. That Gigabyte board is terrible.

Swap out that psu as well for something better. Have a look at the psu tier list in the psu section.

What is the pc going to be used for ? As mentioned above the R5 3600 might be better depending on what you are doing.

I am only focused on the computer itself.

I already have a mouse, keyboard, and monitor, and headset.

The memory I found on microcenter can be found here:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/607433/crucial-ballistix-sport-lt-16gb-(2-x-8gb)-ddr4-3200-pc4-25600-cl16-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit-bls2k8g4d32aesb---gray

I would be ok with changing the board as long as it is priced well and has features/upgrades that the current one lacks.

I don't know if you saw my second post XD I checked all of the memory on microcentre with your board, the ASUS I linked and another gigabyte board and none were supported on the QVL. The 2 gigabyte boards only supported like 1 2x8GB kit at 3200Mhz and 2 at 3000Mhz. Sent an amazon link to some RAM that will work with that ASUS board.

The QVL list isn't Gospel. Also that Asus B450 TUF isn't much better than the Gigabyte one in the op's list. The MSI is better but the downside is only 2 x Ram slots.

I know but it's guaranteed to work and avoids annoyance for a first time builder.

You can still have issues with Ram that is on the QVL list. I have seen it happen on another forum. The Crucial Ballistix is good Ram and should work fine.

Corsair vengeance RGB is good RAM and didn't work on my board, generally sticking to the QVL is less risky.

He doesn't need to spend $95 though when the other Crucial kit is nearly $30 less. Not sure why you are quoting the QVL list all the time as it really doesn't matter. Every system is different. Even two people with the exact same cpu/board might have different results with the same Ram. You can use the QVL list as a guideline, but that is all it is.

I'm quoting the QVL because it is the official supported spec, if you get a kit from that list you are highly unlikely to have issues, if you get a kit not on the list it is less likely to work and for a first time builder that is a hassle that they could do without. If you've done it before, know how to troubleshoot properly, have spare parts lying around and such then fine no worries but it's a faff and spending 95 is better than spending 60, having to return it, buying a $75 kit and having to return it and having to get the $95 anyway which could happen, especially with cheap boards, hell I have a middle ground X570 board and I had RAM issues with Zen+. If it was me I'd take the risk but I have a spare stick of ram and the money to buy a second kit if the new kit isn't supported so I wouldn't be sat without PC for the week it takes to ship back and the week it takes to test the component and the 28 working days it takes to issue a refund.

Also it's still under budget so price isn't really that big a deal...

It isn't the official supported spec though. It just shows what kits they have tested. They can't test every single kit on the market. There are lots of kits not on the QVL list that will work just fine. Also board vendors might not have updated the list to show recent additions. There is just too much work involved with that.

As for returns I don't know how every store works, but places like Amazon will usually refund you pretty quick. If you just want a replacement then obviously you won't need to wait for a full refund.

Here is the updated build with corsair vengeance (non RGB) memory at 3200.

I chose the MSI board because it has 2 PCI ports.

What are you going to be using the pc for ?

A mild amount of gaming, day to day use of multitasking and 3d designing.

The R5 3600 still might be a better option depending on the 3d software you use. For gaming it is quicker than the 2700X. Maybe see if you can find some benchmarks for the software that shows Ryzen cpu's.
