I was looking at getting a msi mpg z390 gaming pro carbon —> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HM4LVTN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3CXuEbJWV6772

also going to get an i9-9900k, is 2x16gb  3200mhz of ram enough? I was going to get corsair vengeance rgb ram —> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GTG2T7L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_sGXuEbR5C2Z72

I rather get 3600, they dont cost much more if at all.

What about future proofing? I mean i guess at that point if i had 16gb total i could add another 8gb?

You could, but probably after DDR4 gets replaced by DDR5

Well to properly answer your question..... 3200mhz is slow memory speed for 9900K. 4000mhz is where you want to go, 3600mhz at the minimum speed.

Does it make a big difference going from 3200mhz to 3600mhz? Well sure. performance gains always comes with faster speeds, otherwise we'd just go 2133mhz......

Intel doesn't see the same gains as Ryzen does from Ram Scaling.

Proven.

Youd be better off putting the difference in cost for extreme Ram into the GPU or CPU for the next powerful tier to be available.

Your not wrong, but balanced builds are better if money IS a concern. (Which it usually is)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I assume if one can affors a 9900K there is no reason to buy the slowest lowest binned budget ram available.

But yes frame rates from big video card.... But affords 9900K but only a mid ranged card and low ball memory???

What exactly is the right suggestion for a half quality build?

Don't assume anything in Life.
Plain and Simple.
I didn't say or recommend buy the slowest binned budget ram,....or that people should...
3200-3600Mhz is totally justified for the performance VS the real real small gains having 4Ghz-4400Mhz/5Ghz Ram speeds.

Even with your big framerate video card scenario.
If the gains are bugger all (why waste hard earned money you can put to better use)  Faster Ram VS $extra money to put towards the next best CPU or GPU (even a model you prefer, that you couldn't afford with Faster Ram)

Having money isn't everything, being SMART with money is.

Again - YOU can do what you want, but not everyone who buys and uses a 9900K has a lot of money, they may have splurged for it, and want to make a better overall balanced build for their budgets.

I don't experience these "real real small gains" you speak about. Perhaps you mean only and strictly gaming triple A titles?

3600mhz memory as we suggested would be spending money "smart" as you put it.  Won't cost more than 3200mhz and there is a performance gain that is measurable.

2133 to 3200 is like 3200 to 4000mhz in performance gains. Naturally give or take depending on Cpu and cache frequency..... but whom am I to argue?
