A week ago i was playing csgo on medium settings and i noticed that my gpu is reaching 70+ degrees Celsius, and my fps is dropping from 250 to 30, i tried changing the settings to low but nothing happens.

PC specs:

MSI B450 Tomahawk mobo

Ryzen 5 2600

MSI RX 580 Armor 8 gb

corsair vengeance 2x8 gb @3000 Mhz ram

UPDATE: i'm getting 80+ degrees Celsius in apex legends, low settings

70-+ Celsius is totally fine though. Are you using an aftermarket or stock cooler ?

I’m more worried about the 30 fps than the 70c

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Try setting a frame rate limiter in your GPU software for CS:GO - set it to whatever the native refresh rate of your monitor is.

i don't want to limit my frame rate, i don't think that's the problem because even in apex legends on the lowest settings i'm reaching the same temp and my frame rate is capped to 72

So what you are saying is previously you were burying your cpu and running high frame rates without Stressing your gpu, but now you are burying your gpu with much lower frame rates. Correct?  So somehow your gpu is either having to suddenly do a lot more work, or has gotten a lot less efficient.

you're kinda right, the cpu usage is still the same, but my gpu got less efficient, i still have high fps but it drops every now and then

Well that’s odd.  The cpu should in the Rory be less stressed because it’s generating fewer frames.  That it is not doing so is interesting.
