Hello! I just recently bought new ram sticks to put into my pc, (Omen HP model 830c) The ram sticks are CORSAIR DDR4 2x8gb 3000MHz.

I went to put both in, both black slots, and not all of my ram has shown up. 8gb is all I see. I've tried individually checking each slot to make sure they work/ they do except the very last one, the blue one. Which seems to be busted.

I've tried going through msconfig, and through the system info settings, tried going through the bios, still didn't work. I've checking everything, not sure what else to do and it's becoming VERY frustrating. (I've also had to reset my pc for this because I got stuck in the blue screen of death)

please look at the files below for info

Trying to look up “hp omen 830c” but I’m having problems.  “Omen” apparently is/was HP’s “gaming” line but is/was quite large and apparently includes both desktops and laptops.

i found an 870, and a 900x, but they are both not your specific machine and completely different from each other.

I was mostly interested in getting a look at the motherboard to see how it deals with memory.  “Channeled” memory can behave in weird ways.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

It's technically an 870 but for some reason in the bios, and in the system information it shows as 830c I'm assuming it is an 870

....odd.
I’ll see if I can find an 870 motherboard shot.  May or may not be the same.

Yep!

Okies.  Near as I can find this seems to be a motherboard for an 870.  I got a nasty suspicion yours will be almost the same but not quite

this one is a bit obnoxious as I can’t tell if it has 2 or 4 memory slots.  Slots appear to be two different colors implying dual channel ram, but the wiring bundle is in the way.

This looks exactly the same It does have 4 I can tell by the two slots.

The pertinent thing with that mobo is the memory slots are different colors.  They want to be filled up by color if you’ve got two sticks, so slot 1&slot 3.

ROM Family SSID 830C (Bios reference.)

It's an Omen 870-xxx (100 - 200 -000 -244 -250 ect ) something like this.

You have the Omen 870 - something something something. lol.

This is not the correct manual. This is for the 870-000

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-by-hp-870-000-desktop-pc-series/11084748

Not that it matters, it doesn't say which slots are correct for use.

They are both in the same colors. 1&3, yes I've individually checked each slot to make sure they work, and yes I checked both sticks individually
