PSU cable adapters

Hello everyone, 

 

I'm currently building a costum desk pc and I had to get two PSU's that were both 300 watts as they were the thinnest ones I could find. However, they do not have an 8pin and 6pin cable for my GTX 980. Are there any adapters i could use to get an 8pin and 6pin cable for my GPU or will i need to buy a new PSU?

you will need to get a new PSU

Are SFX powersupplies too big?

 

If so there are flex ATX or TFX options.

you have a huge risk of voltage drops and very hot cables with adapters like this, i really wouldn't recommend it

 

especially since something like molex was never designed for these kinds of things

Ah ok fair enough, probably will look for another PSU then, I did think it did seem a tad sketchy but wasnt sure if anyone had any experience with them.

Which SFX power supply did you find?

 

One thing to keep in mind is the length of the cables with SFX power supplies. They're often made for smaller ITX cases and have shorter than normal cables. Make sure the length of the cables will work with the layout of the desk PC.

Which one?

 

Not all PSUs are exactly good.
