$1500 PC Build help

Silverdogz

Hello,

I've been working on developing a new $1500 dollar pc to replace my aging i7-3700 and GTX970 build. I plan to reuse it's 1TB WD hdd and it's peripherals. I've thrown this build together on pcpartpicker and my goal is to keep it at $1500 +/- $100 not including shipping + tax. I'm looking at Ryzen CPUs because I also use the PC to perform matlab and solidworks simulations as well as a gaming PC. I plan to OC the computer because I still think that's a decent way to save money.

Thanks,

Changed some stuff to save you some money and replaced the 3600 with a 3700X - those two extra cores might come in handy for you.

If gaming is a priority and you think that you are fine with 6 cores, here's a build with a 2080 Super instead.

What country, what currency? We need to know these things when requesting a parts list.

Decent build. Do you have other storage? 500GB is going to run out real fast. I'd look into getting a cheaper NVME drive of greater capacity.

The cooler is a little overkill but if that's the look you're going for it's fine. Same with the RAM.

I mentioned it the thread. My plan is to clone the exisiting sata ssd onto the m.2 and reuse my current 1TB WD hdd. I've done the aircooler bit, so I decided to go AIO because also I think read somewhere that AIOs actually handle dirty environments better and my PC has to sit on a little shelf on the ground due to smol desk. I also have a dog who sheds actually everywhere.

I haven't built a PC since the mid-00s so I kinda want to get the rgb stuff and have a bit of fun.

That's in the US, right? Sorry my bad. I'm currently on mobile so I can't see this

Yeah Washington, US. No worries - I never use mobile apps and just assume everybody sees the same page that I do. Happens to the best of us!

Nothing wrong with having fun and making it aesthetically pleasing and gimmicky - it's your build after all. If you prefer the look of an AIO then go with it, but it has the same problems with dust as aircoolers. Dirt, hair etc. get stuck in the fins of a heatsink (aircooler) or radiator (AIO).

Here's the build from above with some RGB goodness. (Note: I chose the X62 Rev2 cooler just because PCPP has no prices for the X63, which is the newer model - should cost the same).

Thanks for the help. I'm basically still kinda of early planning. PCPP has been a huge god send though since the last time I built a PC.
