Hey Guys,

I've currently got a Acer Predator Helios 300 Laptop (needed a laptop for work at the time) but I'm looking at building a new PC since I'm tired of laptops. I've also been out of the loop for a while with PC components due to work so I'll need your advice.

1. Budget & Location.

I'm currently located in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) so prices are pretty different (2080 Super in USA is 720USD and here for the same card its 947USD) to what's available elsewhere. The sites we use here are Phongvu.vn and Gearvn.com. That being said, I don't really have a set budget ($1000-$1500)

2. Aim

Mostly gaming to be honest, FPS shooters like Battlefield and things like Witcher, Civ, Assassins creed, that kind of thing. Also some browsing.

3. Monitors

I already have the AOC C27G2 (144HZ Gsync 1080p). Will be upgrading to the 2K version of this monitor so will end up having 2-3 monitors (But will only play games on 1 of them, ideally the 144HZ 1440p version)

4. Peripherals

I already have everything I need.

**CPU** | [AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor]
**CPU Cooler** | [Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler]
**Motherboard** | [MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard]
**Memory** | [G.Skill Trident Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory]
**Video Card** | [Asus GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB STRIX GAMING Advanced Video Card]
**Power Supply** | [Cooler Master MWE Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply]

The above is just a rough guide of what I've looked at, availability is obviously very different to some other countries. This is not exact and not set in stone in any way.

I have an M.2 SSD and I don't mind the case, thats not an issue, I will have to get a high flow since the temperatures here are crazy hot all day all the time throughout the year.

I am looking at building this PC at the end of March, however, I have heard and read about new NVIDIA GPUS, new Ryzen CPUs, and a whole bunch of other things coming for this year.

Do you guys think this is a good general build? any major issues here?

Do you think I should rather wait for the newer gear to launch? I am in no real rush to be honest, I can wait.

New Ryzen CPUs are only coming towards the end of the year. Don't wait.

New Nvidia GPUs aren't close enough to wait for IMO, launching this summer.

So, if you want something in the near future, buy now.

Your build also looks very good, the one thing I'd do is maybe swap the 3600X for a normal 3600 if you want to overclock and there's a large price difference, since they can overclock about the same, and you don't need the bigger cooler of the X.

Overall, good build!

Thanks for that!

I'm deciding on a new build, and the 3600X was my min. I was under the impression the normal 3600 was zen+, but I checked, and it's Zen2 like the 3600X.

Note for old farts: ho chinminh city ised to be called Saigon if that helps any.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Alright thanks man,

The only thing is I realistically will only be building and buying in April/May due to the payment cycle of my company (End of March, however the corona virus is impacting our work so if my company stays closed any longer this build might have to be pushed back due to a lack of income) so thats why I was saying I might wait since I currently have the laptop. Any real time period given on the new GPUs? June, July, August? Cause if its around June I might wait

I do plan on overclocking as I like to tinker with my stuff, so you rate the 3600 is good to go?

Plus the corona thing will push stuff back by an unknown amount.  Might be zero but might not too.
