AHCI causes hackintosh installer to crash

I used the vanilla laptop guide and tried to install mac os mojave on my laptop, when I tried to boot with AHCI on during the boot of the installer it showed the drives off and then just restarts. When I turn it off it boots into the installer but I cant use my drives.

Normally with a hackintosh you have to reformat the drives before install.

What are your drives formatted too?

If you can get into the installer, you can erase the drives and format them. That might solve your issue.
