Upgrade Issues

TL;DR: Unstable OS after graphics card and motherboard upgrade. How would I diagnose/fix?

Hey there,

I'm kind of new to PC building and gaming, so I apologize for anything incorrect I say.

I've made my first major upgrades to my personal rig about a day ago, upgrading my graphics card and motherboard. Ever since then, windows itself has been very unstable. Immediately after upgrading, I experienced frequent crashes and BSOD's. I managed to reset the system and get a fresh install of windows using Windows' "Reset your PC" option, and that was stable enough for me to do some basic web browsing. At this point, I noticed loading anything besides Chrome would Bluescreen me. Fearing I had a bad OS install, I jettisoned my personal files into my OneDrive and tried to do a fresh install on my SSD. While I can get Windows installed and running, I can't get it stable at all - it'll last maybe ten seconds on my SSD and a couple minutes on my HDD without crashing. At this point I'm pretty certain it's either the graphics card or the motherboard - a few of the error codes I got were graphics or driver issues.

My big question: Is this a graphics card/driver issue, or a motherboard issue? If it's a graphics card issue, how would I fix it?

I'm currently running:

Ryzen 5 2600x - base clock, no OC

G.Skill DDR4 - 3200 16gb kit

ROG Strix X570-I Gaming MOBO (New)

ROG GeForce GXT 1650 Super

Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 2TB 3.5"

Corsair MP300 Force 120GB SSD

EVGA 550 Watt PSU (I forget the exact model. G2 or something like that)

It's only locked up once; it froze completely while I was trying to update graphics drivers and I had to do a hard shut-down by holding the power button. Every other time though it crashes, gives me an error code, and restarts, so I don't think it's a PSU issue.

okay then it doesn't seem like that. try only 1 ram stick and change between the 2.

That was it! Ran both sticks individually through the memory diagnostic tool and found the bad one. Runs great again.

Thanks!!
