Upgrade

Got someone to build my PC in 09 and it’s starting to have problems running newer games. can I upgrade just the cpu? Or do I need a newer motherboard? I’m running at 99% gpu and about 60fps while gaming.

sounds like you need a gpu upgrade then.

the cpu you have is the best you can use on that motherboard unfortunately

You're definitely looking a graphics card upgrade.

Might as well upgrade to 16 GB of ram while you're at it.

The 4770K would only be surpassed by the 4790K, you won't see significant gains, the only difference is that the 4790K overclocks better.

there are tons of upgrade tutorials on YouTube. What are your current PC specs and what would you be willing to spend?

Also make ssure you quote us so we see your responses.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I recently upgraded the graphics card to a Radeon rx560 (dad with 4kids so I’m budget limited)

What's your existing graphics card, monitor resolution + refresh rate, and price range?

It really depends on the specific game, but this can at least give us a general idea.

Radeon rx560. as far as the monitor , it was a gift and I have no idea of the specs.
I only play ONE game: Ring of Elysium

The RX 560 is not a very strong card, if you wanted to save for a budget upgrade a usedRX 570 would be a great choice.

Theres a good chance you're limited by the monitor to 60 FPS then.

What sort of issues are you experiencing?

It jumps to 70-75 if I’m not running discord with the game. not necessarily issues, would just like to run higher resolution and better FPS on the game I play.

Assuming you are currently on a 1920x1080 60 Hz monitor; My recommendation would be a 1440p 144Hz monitor and the most expensive graphics card you can afford. Really an RTX 2060 or RX 5600XT or better.

Otherwise, I don't really think it'll get you the results you are looking for.

As an intermediary, just getting the graphics card, and using the existing monitor until you could afford a nicer one could slightly improve you gameplay experience. You'll still be capped at 60 FPS (assuming you monitor is 60Hz,) but you'd ideally have a lower input lag, and better overall frametime performace/ minumframerate.

Also, I'd really recommend getting 16 GB dual channel total RAM. Not sure what your current config is...
