New setup after dead Mobo

Go to solution Solved by 16bit,

Downgraded to 2700X tho. Used the extra cash for a M.2 120gb drive for the OS, a 500gb SSD and 3200Mhz ram sticks with low latency (16-18-18)

My old mobo just died and I'm in the need to replace this 7yo friend. This computer was mostly used for gaming (the last 2 years have been devoted to even more runs of Divinity 2, MHW and indie games), google sheets and hangouts conference calls.

I have a budget of 600USD to get a new mobo, CPU, RAM and cooling.

Right now I have an Mid-ATX case, but with a new bown I'll have to move my computer to the living room and ditch my old home office in favor of a room for the baby. I'm sure I'll change to an ITX in a year or so.

After not a long research session, I'm coming up with:

  •     AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
  • Mobo - Something B450 with wi-fi integrated (are there still restrictions with processors and B450 mobos?) Any suggestions here are appreciated
  • RAM 16gb DDR4 3200 as cheap as I can find

If I move to an itx case, would air cooling work? Liquid cooling is daunting and I'd rather not risk it tbh.

Do you have any v-card in mind?
I think a 3700X is kind of overkill. I'd suggest a R5 3600

I plan on keeping my 1070 for at least a couple of years and I'd like to keep this computer for a long while upgrading here and there doen the line

The 3600 is better for gaming.

MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC would be a better choice of board.

Those two SSD's are bad value. You can get a Crucial MX500 1TB for less.

The Cooler Master MWE Gold is cheaper.
