Hi all,

My nas (freenas, part of 3 drive raidz1 array) rejected this drive (A400 240gb) most likely because of a write error so i hooked it up to my windows 10 pc to see what was going on. I had a lot of trouble getting it to be seen by my pc (pc became very slow during bootup in bios) and device manager lists it as some kind of scsi device and disk management says its not initialised (initialising gives an error). According to crystaldiskinfo the smart data suggests its been turned on about 16 million times over the past 30 years... what is going on here, is this ssd done?

Make sure to update the sata manager as well as your bios etc.

It could be taht your ssd's firmware is broken.

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

Yep, your drive is dead. Kingston - and that is enough for me.

If you see some strange name of drive instead of proper name - it's firmware failure. You cannot even upgrade it in that state or fix it using just home computer and software.

Well that sucks. I still have warranty until may 23 so I guess this is gonna be a RMA then...
