Questions Regarding Ryzen

Go to solution Solved by Metallus97,

Talking about Ryzen 3xxx :

1. The interconnect between the IO die and the cores and even the cores themselves is called infinity fabric. That runs synced with the mem speed up to  3200Mhz. After that it gets decoupled. So its recommended to run 3200-3600Mhz mem with good timings. Here is a verry conclusive and in depth look at it:

Less time?:

2. As you see in this videos up to a certain point: yes

3. Depends on the apps. For gaming 16GB is still fine and 32GB more than you need but nice if you can afford it. But prioritize other stuff over that!

4. yes

Hi there!

i am planning to upgrade to ryzen somewhere in the future seeing it as a better value for money platform.

i have a few questions regarding about Ryzen since i have no experience working with it.

1. What is it with ryzen and fast memory?

2. Does memory have a huge impact in performance?

3. Does more memory translates to more performance?

4. Does all Ryzen CPU share the same AM4 socket?

any conclusive answers are appreciated

Idd upgrade that. You can try your luck OCing but from what I have read the LP stuff ain’t the best modules so I think you wont get much more perf out of them. So you currently have 8GB? Then It’s anyway worth it to get new ram.

Oh and most important: You already wrote set of ram. So thats good, because Ryzen on single channel is really a hard bottleneck

While they still do benefit from fast memory, I think that this-gen ryzen does not depend on it as much as earlier generations

Correct, but watch the videos. It’s still a major factor and its important go at lest go above 3000Mhz
