Windows cannot be installed on this disk

I’m fixing to do a completely clean install of windows on this PC. I took an SSD from my old PC that I used to store games and emptied it, and want to use it as a boot drive. However, when setting up windows I get this message. How do I go about fixing it? The format button does nothing. I’m using an ASUS UEFI BIOS

Press shift & F10

type diskpart then hit enter

type select disk 0 then hit enter

type clean then hit enter

close the command prompt

press next (do not try to manually partition anything)

Windows should install

 

Before you do that though you should reboot to BIOS and disable the CSM option.

Thank you so much, but it turns out that Windows Media Creation Tool created both a legacy and a UEFI partition on the USB drive. I switched the boot order to use the UEFI partition rather than the legacy and it worked!
