Hey guys, so i have a bit of an outdated gaming pc (i3-6100 and a geforce 1050ti, 2x 4GB RAM). I dont really know alot about PC's but my fps is way lower than what its supposed to be and it has been like that for a while. I ran malwarebytes and deleted 9 PUP's. But no help there. My gpu usage is 35% in CSGO and about 50% in other games which is quite low. I know csgo is a cpu based game but i see people with the same specs get atleast 180 fps on 1920x1080 while i play with ~120 on a 1280x1024. When i change the settings to high/medium/low there is no.fps difference. Anyone that can help me out ? I changed my nividia power settings to high already, didn't work. (Btw i see some.people with the same GPU get 90% in csgo?)

ALSO! My cpu usage in csgo is about 65-75, and i'd like that to be a bit higher as well, any ideas on how to?

Ram usage is almost 6k and as for the individual cores, its around 65-75% jumping between all cores

Full spec:
INTEL CORE i3-6100
Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2H (motherboard
MSI GEFORCE GTX 1050 TI 4G (gpu)
seagate hdd 1tb
Kingston hyperX fury HX421C14FB (2x 4GB ram)
Corsair VS450(80plus) -> power supply

Someone told me resetting(?) Windows might be a good idea but idk if that is true or not

1280x1024? You have no use for anything abode 60fps, why do you care?

Only my CSGO is on 1280x1024, basically that makes it stretched and makes the playermodels easier to hit. On every other game i play 1920x1080 but im playing on a 144hz screen so id like to get at least 144 fps

Will probably help to overclock your RAM a little bit, you should be able to manually bump it to 2400Mhz with no issues.

Why would anyone do that....

you have no issues, you can’t go above 120 because you’re limited to 120 either by your screen or by some setting in the game.

What? no.. this is clearly a CPU bottleneck, most likely caused by slow RAM.

Only reason is competitive advantage. I know thats the strange part, i've checked everything and i can assure you i have no FPS limiter (not on my screen, not in game, not in NVIDIA). It used to be fine the first few years but i ran into this problem a couple of months ago so i dont really get it. Also it does go over 120 fps sometimes it hits 180 but thats literally for 0,5 seconds

Really appreciate that man!  overclocking my RAM shouldnt give any problems i assume right?

You won't be touching the voltage and 2400Mhz is easily achievable by all RAM sticks out there since it's JEDEC spec, after you set 2400Mhz in BIOS make sure to install CPU-Z and go to the Memory tab and pay attention to your CAS Latency (CL), it shouldn't be higher than 14, and if you want even more performance you can overclock your Memory Timings manually because even 2400Mhz CL14 is pretty high.

Really appreciate it dude! I cant check as of right now but i'll let you know in an hour or so if it worked. Once again really appreciate the help!

You can see the System Memory Multiplier at 0:05, just put it to 24 and since the BCLK is 100mhz, 100*24=2400mhz.

Though to note CSGO is just straight up getting heavier, you'll gain *some* performance by overclocking RAM, but don't expect to reach 180+.

Hey ! So i've decided to check out some more games before i started to overlock. The thing is on every other game my cpu and gpu usage is above 90%. its just CSGO thats having my GPU on 30% and my cpu on 70% (occasionally 80 but that rarely happens). Any ideas?

This is normal behavior when there's a CPU bottleneck so your GPU isn't going to be used as much, as you increase the graphics quality your GPU usage will go up because now each frame is more complex to render even if you get the same amount of frames that is caused by the CPU bottleneck.

Though I believe you should be able to utilize 100% of your CPU, that's why I said it's probably the RAM that is bottlenecking the CPU but now I'm not sure anymore, I think it's more because CSGO isn't able to utilize Hyperthreading efficiently, difficult to know I don't have the hardware to test.

Have you checked if your CPU clocks and CPU temperatures are okay?

Yupp the individual clocks and temperatures  are completely normal (temp is around 60 and the each core shifts between 60-78%). Sorry for the misconception btw but i havent yet overclocked my RAM, i had a question aboht this. It says my RAM is 2133mhz on the products site. Is it still safe to overclock it to 2400?

I'd check older drivers to see if that's messing with the gpu, as for the cpu it is ok to have those %, when they go to high that usually creates stuttering. I'd also re install windows completely just to be sure.

Hey! Do you have any idea on how to know what older driver i should go ''back'' to?

Adjusting frequency won't hurt the RAM module (and all components in general), it's the voltage that does and you won't be touching that, you can set the frequency to 5000Mhz and it won't matter it just simply won't boot, but at 2400Mhz it definitely would boot and won't cause any instability issues, though since the timings are set to auto the board might set them loose which would result in even less performance, that's why I said to check your timings in CPU-Z otherwise you would have to set them manually.

That was 4 years ago, I haven't been following CSGO much but I know they added a lot of things over the years, I'm not sure how that affects the performance since I don't play it.
