So this started happening like right now.I've checked the temps, they're fine. Everything is fine and Idk what's going on. For some reason my GPU (GTX 1660 Ti) is just agressively clocking from 300 to 1500 too 300 to 1500 over and over again while in-game and even on idle. I've provided a picture from MSI Afterburner. Is it dying? This happens in FiveM, I also got bad performance in Apex Legends.

Specs are on my profile

Might be a power state issue. Try going into the nvidia control panel and change your 3d settings to prefer maximum performance instead of balanced. I had this issue when I first got my 2080 ti where it wouldn't register games correctly and would run at like 1350 mhz to like 500. Once I changed my settings to prefer maximum performance the gpu clocked to around 1900ish mz consistently in game.

For some reason it was on Optimal Power. Anyways, I'll restart and see if anything changes.

That is what it usually defaults to and what mine was set at when I had my issues. Changing it to prefer maximum performance fixed it for me so hopefully it will work for you.

@Brooksie359 It's just locked at 1500 MHz now

Have you tried changing the setting for that specific game? I know sometimes you have to manage the 3d settings on an individual basis for a game to run at max performance. Granted at least staying at 1500 mhz is better off where you started. I would suggest trying to uninstall your GPU drivers using DDU and reinstalling them if what I suggested doesn't work. Granted you will still may need to take the steps I suggested even after the reinstall of the drivers.

@Brooksie359 Well I checked and it's just using all of the global settings. I'll also reinstall drivers just in case. One thing that worries me, is that it clocks over the limit that I have set in MSI Afterburner. It was like 1995 MHz at some point. I used to have an overclocked that was scanned and tested by he MSI OC Scanner but when I removed the OC it still clocked way over.

I have had a card underclock after a failed overclock but it fixed itself after resetting it to default and restarting the computer. I guess I am out of ideas for now then.
