1150 vs. 1155?

1150 and 1155 use the same mounting system. It will work. They don't always update the specs.

The difference is that one of them has 5 less pins. Other than that, for your cooling, they use the same mountain mechanism for backplates like WoodenMarker said.

Is there a difference? i am buying an NH-D14 and on the Noctua site it says compatible with  LGA1155, LGA1150          but on Newegg it only says  LGA1156, LGA1155. I already have to return a NH-D14 for a 2011 socket because i didn't bother to read everything.

 

1155 and 1150 use the same mounting hardware.. 

i'd tend to believe the manufacturer than what a retailer says.

retailers have many parts/vendors to update not enough manpower/time to stay on top.

 

you could have purchase the 115x mounting kit to solve that issue and have PWM

control of the fans, instead of voltage control. but it is a mute point.

Noctua is great about sockets. If you email them receipt that confirms you have bought their product and ask for mounting brackets you need, they will send those for free. http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=40&lng=en

Yes. You can buy their cooler now and then request mounting bracket you need. Thats good thing if you change socket in future but want to keep same cooler.

It's the same mounting hardware as others have said. I done a lot of research and was worried because the hyper 212 didn't say it supported 1150. But upon research I found the 1150 socket just had 5 less pins than the 1155 socket and other than that they were the same mounting wise. Anything that says 1155 compatible you can use with 1150.

the NH-D14 SE2011 is for 2011 only, no other bracketry is included. and i'm pretty

sure that the extra brackery will have to be purchased for the SE2011.

The NH-D14 and the se2011 version are categorized as different items in shops. The OP is talking about the non se2011 version.
