Hi, I'm currently planning to build my first ever PC for both gaming and schoolwork. For the past few months I have been planning for the rig and I've settled on these specs:

  • Ryzen 5 2600
  • Kingston 8GB (4×2) 2666Mhz
  • Gigabyte Aorus RX 570
  • WD Green 240GB SATA SSD
  • Thermaltake Litepower 650W

Now my problem is if I should go for an ATX/MATX case & motherboard or an ITX build. I'd like to know what are the advantages of an ATX/MATX build over an ITX one. Portability is one of the main reasons why I'm considering an ITX build. I would also like to have recommendations on what motherboard should I buy depending on what build I should do.

I also would like to know if there are any problems with my planned specs. Thank you!

I would also buy a 1TB Hard drive for your data/games. And I would recommend setting up OneDrive with known folders. Meaning that the Pictures, Documents and Desktop will be synced to the cloud. Handy if your computer spits the dummy and having a backup of your data for school and being to access it at school too.

Just an idea and suggestion. Hope that helps.

Yeah, as @AgentEddie99 you'll want to definitely get a 1TB hard drive. I'd also say if its in the budget, upgrade your RAM to 16GB since you're gaming. Far as casse... not sure. Keep us updated on your build as it progresses, though! Good luck!

@AgentEddie99 Thanks, I'll buy a 1TB hard drive. I'm not really familiar with OneDrive but I can probably set up Google Drive for that.

@GDRRiley I have a budget of around $500, I'm currently in the Philippines, and the parts I listed is about $340, and that's without a motherboard and case. I'm not good at deal hunting, especially in the market here. I'll also try the website you recommended.

@GreatnessRD I'll make a final post depending on what I'll end up with.

  • 2 weeks later...

@JustinDale73 learn more at the following address. https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/

Google Drive has the same feature, does not matter what service you use they are the same. They only thing is that OneDrive has a feature that only download the files that you use. Feature called File on demand, requesting files on demand.

Hope that helps.
