Hello! I have an interesting question for you. So I am on Spectrum basic plan, I have it setup with them to use my own router. Here is my problem! They gave me the technicolor tc8717t  Modem / Router combo, I went in and Enabled Bridge Mode and turned everything off to use my own Router.. Fun problem, in the configs it says Bridge Mode is on.. but it's not..  I connect my desktop to the Modem / Router combo and I get a Ipv4 and ipv6 address, while on the asus rt-acrh13 that I am trying to use for Wifi since the Modem / Router has the WiFi off. get's a completely different Ipv4 address and no ipv6 address. mind you this is while they are BOTH plugged in.. in my asus rt-acrh13 I have the ipv6 set to passthrough  mode and it's still not giving my ipv6.. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this something to do with the Modem / Router Spectrum gave me?

I know at least on Comcast, you have to call to have the feature enabled. So its hard to say if its an issue with the gateway or if Spectrum just locked out the setting from the customer, so you cant enable it. From what I have read Spectrum has poor support when it comes to cusomter owned equipment. I mean you can try calling them to see if they can enable the feature, as they should be able to remote in to the gateway, but its hard to say.

But as it stands. ISP's are known for disabling certian features in their gateways. This is to keep customers from screwing up settings that lead to service calls. This is the part where I would normally tell you to buy your own modem, but As I stated Spectrum has horrible support for customer owned modems, so Id probably advise against it.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Currently (at least in our experience) Spectrum will hand out standalone Modems (The ARRIS TM1602A). So this is a backup plan you can ask of them if we can't help get this working the way you want it.

Bridged Mode is definitely what you want. It's suppose to be as simple as enable it and connect your own router.

What do you get on the WAN interface of the Router you've connected? (If it's your Public IP DON'T post it here) It should be your Public IP. If it's a Class C Private IP address (192.168.X.X/24) then Bridged Mode isn't doing it's job right.

It's my public IP so I won't want to do that. I don't get it though, I log into the modem 192.168.100.1, go to LAN says bridge enabled, says only port one will work.. well even with it enabled all ports or working..  And the IP address that the Modem puts out is completely different than the one the routers getting. Ones was 67, other started with 77. I'ts just confusing the hell out of me.

Enabling Bridged Mode is suppose to disable the router part of the unit all together then your standalone router collects your Public IP. If the ISP modem/router is handing out IP addresses somethings definitely wrong there.

Does it say DHCPv4 or DHCPv6 is still enabled?
