Good 5.1/7.1 speaker set

I would still tell him some good brands for that money...

I would say look at energy speakers, and perhaps some JBLs.

You saying Sony isn't a good brand? :P

I did check on JBL's, but a full setup would've been over budget for even 5.1

To be honest sony is a low quality brand. I would highly suggest not getting sony xD

Well being cheap on a setup will cost you more down the road.

Sorry, but I can't accept that. They might not be high quality but they definetely deserve more than low quality.

Nothing i have ever bought from sony has ever been good. I would also wouldn't ever buy a receiver from them. Even a small system needs a good clean receiver. If you are looking to throw this away a few years from now, then i could recommend it. Sure it will sound better than normal computer speakers, or tv speakers, but wont sound as good if you just invested in a system you could upgrade. Upgrading a all in one audio system is pretty much throwing it in the trash and buying a new setup.

Well anything I've ever bought from Sony has had ZERO problems and Sony has the industry standard for studio headphones (MDR V6 or MDR 7506) so I would say they know a thing or two about audio and build quality.

CPU: AMD 3600 GPU: ASUS DUAL OC RX 6750 XT MOBO: Asus Prime X570-P RAM: 16GB XPG Gammix D10 3000Mhz

PSU: Gamdias Kratos P1 650w 80+ Gold OS:Windows 10 pro Case: 4U Rackmount  HDD/SSD:Seagate 8 TB/ Patriot Scorch m.2 512GB

You can't spell ignorant without IGN...-TheSLSAMG

I didn't list an all-in-one solution...

Pretty much this. I've never heard of anyone having a problem with a Sony product.
