Do I have to DDU every time I upgrade graphic driver on AMD Radeon

IndioBravo

Hi everyone,

So my question is pretty straight forward. Every time there is a new drive update for my 5700xt do I have to use DDU and install the new one? Or can I just update it through the Radeon Software normally?

You don't have to, but your future self will thank you whenever you get a driver issue.

DDU mostly you use when there is some issue with current drivers or when you swapping amd-nvidia.

I only do it when I feel performance isn't typical after an update...

Uninstall normally..without DDU.

Reboot, install new version.

That's my norm.

When I have an issue (or think I do)

I'll then do the DDU+Reinstall..

*If I do Nvidia to AMD or vise versa, I run DDU always between restarts. (One more reboot using SSD) isn't so bad...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Thanks for your replies. I think I will always do it, given AMD drivers don´t entirely feel stable just yet.

I only do it when I switch teams or technology.

I've done RX 580 -> Vega 64 without ddu (both GCN) but I did ddu when I went from v64 to 5700xt (RDNA)

I´m so paranoid I used DDU and AMDs own dirver uninstal utility.

I do it because i still have some games that barely use my hardware (GPU mainly) and see frame drops.

Thanks!

I think I know what I am doing haha, at least, I am following all the steps for using it safely? Does it refer to that?
