cpu upgrade advice

looking to upgrade my cpu as my i3 8100 is really beginning to struggle in newer games. Looking to upgrade to something that is a little bit more future proof. not opposed to completely switching to ryzen but am trying to keep costs down obviously.

 

My current setup is:

cpu: i3-8100

gpu: RTX 2060

mobo: msi b360m pro vdh

ram: 16gb 2400mhz DDR4

psu: coolermaster 550w 80+ bronze.

monitor: Acer Nitro VG240YP

 

Been looking at possibilites of a 2700x + a B450 motherboard for £220~      or     3600 + B450mobo for £200~     or keeping my current mobo and buying an i7 9700 for £280~

 

anyone with any advice or experience with these parts

3600 is the best bang for buck gaming CPU out right now, go that route.  Especially when cheaper than the 9700.

 

Get a decent B450 motherboard tho, what one is in that bundle?

not a bundle but was looking at the B450 MSI PRO-VDH MAX, would you recommend something else?

 

Also do you think 6cores will be enough for new titles in 2/3/4 years time?
