an i3 3rd or 4th gen with a 7850 or 270x should be good. with a 500w psu. maybe the cx500m its cheap and modular. then a 1tb drive and some cheap ram. then maybe a mouse/keyboard-combo and hes ready to rock.
with a system like that my neighbour is maxing out bf4 1080p with awesome framerates. just awesome

                                                                                      wow... pretty empty here...

I priced out an APU Kavari A1-7850K setup recently on Newegg for about $450 USD

It is missing a few things though... keyboard, mouse, OS, and display

Later you could upgrade to a nicer GPU solution, like a high end AMD or NVIDIA.

...and storage

I don't always have time to study, but when I do, I don't.

This build is a pretty good deal except I think you could get better performance with a cheaper CPU and discreet GPU like a 7770 or GTX 650.

That's what I was thinking and I have built a small Steambox type machine using that combination and it works great.

I'd agree with this build.

But would it be worth it to drop the aftermarket cpu cooler, drop a little bit to the slightly cheaper 500W psu, and try and get a 7790, in your opinion?
