PC Locking up

Hey guys during gaming or on launch of a game my entire PC will just lock up and freeze and the only way to fix this is by completely powering off the PC and back on again (i know cliché but it works) i was wondering if you guys knew any permanant fix if there is one?

PC Specs:
Intel Xeon X5690 3.46GHz

ASUS Sabertooth X56 Motherboard

Arctic Extreme Cooler

12GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM 3x 4GB Sticks

GTX 690 Dual GPU Graphics card 2GB shared

2TB HDD

250GB SSD

1) Check with memtest86+ if your RAM is broken, let it run for a couple of hours

2) Test if your GPU is alright with e.g. Furmark

the motherboard has a built in mem check so i know thats fine but ill try furmark

No, the built-in memcheck ain't as good as memtest86+

alright ill give it a test, also is there no way to enable sli in furmark?

No idea, I've never bothered with SLI.

if it's not RAM, try and game with only 1 GPU and test both, also it's your PSU new? those cards are power hungry and over the years PSU lost their performance.

 

and is neddless to say that drivers for SLI are a pain, so see if this happens on every game, or just in some cases.
