Specs:

Ryzen 3 2200G

MSI RX 570 8GB

8GB RAM 2400mhz

Asus Prime B450m a

Deepcool 600w

I recently bought Red dead redemption 2 however i cant run the game at solid 60fps at high settings and i dont want to go below that. I am usually at 30-40fps or 50fps in some areas. What would be a better upgrade for that 60fps. RX5800 8gb or 16GB ram 3600mhz. If neither can get me 60fps constant, what else can i get? Would saving up and getting RX590 8gb be worth it? or maybe some Nvidia equivalent (Btw im not trying to go above $250-$300 CAD)

Try to monitor the GPU and RAM usage while playing. The Windows task manager allows for both of that. Then decide which component is most stressed. However, looking at the recommended system specs of Red Dead Redemption 2, you might actually want to upgrade your RAM to 16GB, especially if you're running your 8GB in single channel mode right now.

First of all, what resolution are you trying to play this game at?

1080p is the best your listed specs could handle.

Like Kon-Tiki said, your 8GB RAM is min req, big problem if single channel.

Look into that first.

Secondly, I personally would look at upgrading the CPU before GPU.

Your GPU can handle this at high settings, for 1080p 60fps, with a good processor.

Your processor is meant for low end budget build (CS:GO 60fps, not RDR2 60 fps).

The beauty in the world of RDR2 is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive.

In terms of your system's bottleneck, look to upgrade RAM first, then CPU, and lastly GPU.

You're never going to get a solid 60fps @ 1080p on that card.. but you also have other components that could swing the bottleneck onto the CPU if you upgrade the GPU.

RDR2 is a very intensive game and requires a lot of grunt to get it where you want it... If you want a solid 60fps and not dipping below that on the higher settings... you're gonna need CPU/GPU and possibly RAM upgrades.

System 1: Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro, Ryzen 5 2600X, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz, Sapphire 5700XT, 250GB NVME WD Black, 2x Crucial MX5001TB, 2x Seagate 3TB, H115i AIO, Sharkoon BW9000 case with corsair ML fans, EVGA G2 Gold 650W Modular PSU, liteon bluray/dvd/rw.. NO RGB aside from MB and AIO pump. Triple 27" Monitor setup (1x 144hz, 2x 75hz, all freesync/freesync 2)

System 2: Asus M5 MB, AMD FX8350, 16GB DDR3, Sapphire RX580, 30TB of storage, 250GB SSD, Silverstone HTPC chassis, Corsair 550W Modular PSU, Noctua cooler, liteon bluray/dvd/rw, 4K HDR display (Samsung TV)

System 3 & 4: nVidia shield TV (2017 & 2019) Pro with extra 128GB samsung flash drives.

I used MSI Rivatuner Statistics and my GPU and maxed out the entire time. My RAM usage is around 7500MB and all my CPU cores are at 75-95% utilization. Also I have dual channel RAM which i have overclocked to 2700mhz i believe.

I just checked and theres a MSI RX580 8gb for $230. Or i could get the ryzen 5 2600 and 16gb ram 3600mhz for $300 combined. What option would you recommend?
