No Boot?

Buying processors that aren't tested/compatible/validated with your motherboard might have something to do with it.

MSI hasn't got the Athlon on their compatability list. So that's a pretty clear indication that you shouldn't buy it.

I wasn't able to use two sticks of ram at once in my system and after much trouble shooting and briefly consulting a professional (they literally said "well it looks like you've already diagnosed the problem, our tests wouldn't be able to tell you anything else"). i basically came to the conclusion that either my motherboard or CPU (specifically the memory controller) was faulty. So I bought the cheapest AM4 CPU i could get (Athlon 200GE) to test with. My thought process was that it would either work, in which case the problem was with my other CPU (3700x), or it wouldn't, in which case the problem was with my motherboard (MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus). I've tested again with the 3700x just to make sure, boots fine with one stick, no boot with two (either stick works, just not together). I then insert the 200GE, no boot, fans spin constantly, but no output and no error lights on the motherboard. I've tried with both sticks of RAM (separately and together). I thought it might be because I still had the graphics card installed (the 200GE having integrated graphics), so I took it out, but the problem hasn't changed.

Does anybody have any idea why this is happening?

that's a tough one.  I see that it has 4 slots...have you tried every imaginable configuration of using the differing slots ?  Forgive my ignorance of any limitations of how the slots can be used.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. Having now bought a 3200G the computer is working, confirming that you are right and I am an idiot.
