I've been sorta pondering downgrading from my rampage iv , 32gb and 3930k, to like a sabertooth z87+ 4770k + 16gb.

Would I notice a difference? I honestly almost never make use of the cpu to the fullest, the only actual "work-station" like thing I do is host a ts3, and a feed the beast server.   I stream from time to time, I'd actually like to stream much more but I always forget to stream whilst playing games.

Would I notice a difference in in-game FPS whilst streaming? If so, how big would the difference be?

I'll probably delid the 4770k, and push it as far as it'll go.  I'd really like 4.7~ atleast out of it, if it doesn't get that far and I'm unhappy with the results (if it doesn't make atleast 4.5) I have a buddy I can sell it to for basically retail, as he wants to build a new rig soon with a 4770k in it.  Then I can buy another and repeat if needed.

I figure I can sell the RIVE for ~350 the 3930k for ~400 and the 32gb for ~225 on ebay, and the sabertooth+ram+4770k is only like ~720 $.    I'd profit about 175-300$ depending on what they sell for, and I'd make better use of the parts.

EDIT:

I already have money for the 4770k+ sabertooth, and ram (Or I can keep the ram I have and sell 16gb of it) It'd take 10-20minutes to take out my board and replace it, and re-plug things in, I don't have to mess with my loop, the tubing has enough slack to easily take things out 2-3 inches to remove the board and put a new one in

When I first built my rig, I had the intent of streaming+ video creation ALL the time, but I couldn't really find the motivation to do that, or learn how to use photoshop+ adobe + sony vegas and those other editing programs, I'm not even sure where to start learning that stuff..

If it's just casual editing on camtasia, streaming and 90% gaming, I figure the 4770k much better suits my needs.

Another benefit to z87, I can upgrade my rig more often for much cheaper.

What games do you mainly play? If you stream just use shadowplay or OBS that supports cuda acceleration as well..

I would just buy a second hand 4770k from someone who can prove it did 4.7GHz stable. A 4.7GHz 4770k's IPC is around a 2600k@5.7GHz orsomething..

How do I go about using OBS with cuda acceleration?

a bit of everything,  crysis 3 from time to time, bf3 from time to time, if bf4 ever gets a definitive fix I'll probably buy that.

Mainly I play a lot of league, seeing as thats what most of my friends play.

I cant believe it would be worth the hassle you have a water cooling loop as well. In time games will leverage your system.

Your basically saying shall i downgrade my platform to make my CPU usage is a bit higher.  You could sell 16GB of RAM if you feel like it but a platform downgrade seems like a waste

It'd take like 20minutes to swap the new board in if that, I wouldn't even have to touch my loop

I agree it seems like a waste, but it also feels like a waste having crap I never make use of :z

Just hang onto it, no sense in downgrading only to have to upgrade sooner.

so much trouble for nothing.

I'm not understanding how it's so much trouble, I can buy the 4770k+board+ram with tax money, put it in my system in 10-20 minutes and stick the 3930k rive and 32gb on ebay ._.

( I should edit OP and say I can buy it with tax money so it's literally no hassle)

I meant more selling the parts. I just cant see the sense in downgrading to something you'll have to upgrade sooner like @ said

You dont seem in need of the cash either?

I only have enough for my second pb278q, new headphones+ an o2 dac/amp+ replacement PSU, but I really need to fix-up my room, it's a dump.  This could help pay for that, but I agree.. It'd be a bit tedious selling the parts, although I could use the classified section on LTT now that it's up and running.

How do I go about using OBS with cuda acceleration?

http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1439944-OBS-Now-Supports-Nvidia-Hardware-Encoding

a bit of everything, crysis 3 from time to time, bf3 from time to time, if bf4 ever gets a definitive fix I'll probably buy that.

You won't really have any fps drops in Crysis 3. BF4 is hopeless if you're a sniper :P Anyways BF3 doesnt take any advantage of more than 4 cores Ive done some extended testing so a Haswell would be better. You cant have 120fps at ultra all the time in BF3 especially in strike at karkand because it's so cpu bound..

For BF4 I can't find any cpu benchmarks with 2x 780's to make conclusions if a 3930K makes the difference over an i7 quadcore. All I can find is useless, 1x 780 and its obviously gpu bound there. Ive seen cpu loads up to 50% so I guess the 2 physical cores can make the difference.

Mainly I play a lot of league, seeing as thats what most of my friends play.

Here's a pic of my steam library:

Most of them are mainly gpu bound so don't expect any increase in frames except for Dayz. Even if a few of them would be cpu bound take cod as example, you'd still have 60fps@1440p or 120fps@1080p. It's not worth it at all to downgrade atm unless you want to switch to an itx/matx case and sit on air. Most of my games are CPU bound where a hexacore is just a waste and I always get crappy frames like 20-30fps so in my case a 4770k actually a 4670k would be a much better choice for me -> http://cdn.overclock.net/5/5a/900x900px-LL-5a20688c_GCmE789.jpeg

Streaming performance isn't an issue, Cuda is there and OBS supports Intel Quicksync as well thats rendering video's much faster than cuda so plenty of alternative streaming choices.

So no it's not worth it..

@Faa ty :D

now I've just gotta figure out how to stream my monitor at 2560x1440 downscaled to 720p/1080p  for some reason it's not capturing my entire monitor, only 1080p worth of it, even though I have it set to 2560x1440 custom resolution

Go to setting > video > set resolution there to 1920x1080 save it.

Make a source eg monitorcapture. Rightclick monitorcapture > settings > http://i.imgur.com/RE1NoqO.png
