Reducing RAM Usage On Host Machine

Hi,

I'm using a VM on my 4 GB RAM equipped PC. I assigned 2 GBs of RAM for the VM (Windows 10), so 2 GBs of RAM will be left for the host machine. Still, after I closed my background programs, when the VM is on, my host machine's RAM reaches 98% and so on. Any suggestions on how to reduce RAM usage on the host machine, except upgrading it (I'm planning in the future)?

Thanks.

What OS is your host?

4 GB of RAM is not enough for VMs really.

It's Windows 10, 1909 version.

The 32bit version would be better for low RAM system. As the 64bit has minimum requirement of 2Gb (with 4Gb being actual working minimum).

Increase the swap file size for both the host and vm?  Make it at least 8gb to start with for each...that still will run like a tortoise though cause of IOPS and I assume a HDD.  Why Windows 10 if resource limited?  A lighter OS is available...like Puppy linux.  Think it would run with less than 1gb of ram all day long.
