Revert to a previous backup prior to the issue if possible.

If no backups are in place, back up the data that you can and re-format/reinstall?

Did anything get installed or changed and then this started happening, or did this "happen out of nowhere"?

SSD is not visible so cant revert to any backups or anything.

As your friend gets a BSOD, at least Windows is trying to boot from the SSD, meaning that it should not be completely dead. Is the SSD a NVMe drive or a m.2 SATA one? In the first case this could explain why you don't find it listed under the SATA devices in the BIOS.

Anyway, for safety reasons I would advise that you boot in a live system via a USB stick. Taking into account that Windows was able to get its BSOD up and running, you might be able to find the SSD somewhere. Then copy all the data onto an external drive using the live system.

Good luck

When it's a NVME drive, get your Windows 10 recovery media loaded up and try to let it fix the issue. Windows does occasionaly break without further notice, even on Surface devices this has happened.

And if you can't get Windows to repair itself, just reinstall ;)
