2nd or 3rd gen Ryzen

I'm upgrading my computer. I mostly use if for gaming, but I want to know if I should upgrade to the R7 3700 or the R7 2700 but I want to spend as little money as possible and still get something good. And does the X make a difference to performance? I'm not planning to overclock.

R5 3600 will be better and faster than R7 2700. At least in games. Maybe in some programs R7 gives you small boost, but... Check YouTube videos with comparisons.
