Question.  Planning a new build for the living room and I've never messed with M.2 before outside of the M.2 wifi cards in laptops.  I had to do some reading about the different types after seeing several different types of M.2 drives listed on Newegg and I've found a combo that appears to work together except I've got one question.  With the M.2 slot on the back of the motherboard, what would be the best way to keep the thing cool?  Stick a thermal pad on it and just let it rest against the motherboard backplate upon installation?  I'm fairly certain the gap between the SSD and backplate wouldn't be thick enough for any kind of traditional heatsink, so I'm not sure if I should just leave the drive as is, stick a thermal pad on it before mounting the motherboard, pick a different motherboard altogether or what.
