First post & first build

asthesunsets

Hey guys I'm new here and wanted to show my first build :) !

Originally this build was in a Fractal R4, but I really liked the Carbide 540 Air so I got that one.

It's not the highest-end build, but i'm really happy with the performance.

Specs:

Corsair Carbide 540 Air

Cooler Master Silent Pro M II 1000W

Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3

Asus GTX660 TI-DC2T-2GD5

Intel i7-3820 @ 3.60 GHZ

Cooler Master Eisberg 240L Prestige

Kingston HyperX Genesis 16 GB DIMM DDR3-1600

Asus Xonar Essence STX

128GB SanDisk SSD

3 TB WD GREEN HDD

1 TB WD BLUE HDD

I bought most of my hardware when I was just getting into this whole pc building thing, so some things aren't the best choices when I look back..

Heres some pics:

A couple of weeks ago I decided to go with a black/green theme so I painted the fans for the Eisberg and got green cables :) ! Need green RAM though

I wanted them matte, but couldn't find the right paint so I went with this, looks kinda cheap imo though.

Why not paint the rest? I know you can paint your ram  if you tape off the connection.

Unless you're overclocking your ram, it really doesnt get hot. Heat spreaders are near useless anymore.

I find that heat spreaders nowadays are just used for looks rather than actually cooling the ram
